If you are running Ubuntu or an Ubuntu variant (like me using Kubuntu) then you can:
sudo apt-get install gsynaptics
to get additional options for the configuration of your Synaptics or Synaptics compatible touchpad. --I've been grazing the touchpad while typing, but there is a feature that disables the touchpad for a short while if a keyboard key is touched. Huge reduction in stupid and annoying accidental typo corrections.

ReplyDeleteif you run kubuntu you dont have to install something, just look at your systemsettings (search for touchpad) (or start "synaptiks" via terminal/krunner) :)

Brad: You just got schooled, open source style.

Yeah, I did. I even verified it last night. Synaptiks is even under the Utilities menu. My normal "I have a problem" solution plan is to Google until I find something that works. Had I poked around for about two minutes instead, I would have found it. Since I have been using the pointer less and less over the last few years, turn off touchpad after key press is the perfect solution.
